RtI-What is it?

RtI (Response to Intervention) is a mandated, state-wide initiative designed to monitor and promote student progress. We are in the beginning stages of implementing this initiative. In an effort to more closely monitor the progress of Unit 50 students in grades K through eight, all students will be screened three times during the school year using the Aimsweb screening tool. The Aimsweb screening is a brief, individually administered test that evaluates reading progress in various areas. This screening, along with other student progress data, will assist us in determining a student’s specific educational needs. If it is found that a child requires intervention, parents will be notified to discuss their child’s progress. Teutopolis Unit 50 continues to partner with parents to provide the best educational plan to meet the needs of each individual student.  If you would like more information regarding the RtI initiative, feel free to contact your child’s teacher, building principal, or the Illinois State Board of Education website.
