Mrs. Willman's class has been talking about Friendship this week. They read the story, The Fruit Salad Friend. Then, they made a Friendship Salad. The salad is filled with ingredients that will make their classroom great such as, kindness, listening ears, honesty and helping hands. They decided NOT to add the rotten banana to their Friendship Salad because just one rotten banana can ruin the whole salad! Their class now has a NO Rotten Banana policy!

Ahoy, mateys! Did ye know September 19 is “Talk Like a Pirate Day”? Mrs. Repking's first grade crew had all hands on deck for this fun day! They read books in their best pirate voices, went on a treasure hunt searching for sight words, solved secret codes and riddles, unscrambled pirate sentences, counted like pirates, solved pirate word problems, sorted pirate words by beginning sounds, labeled the parts of a pirate, and even created a treasure map. Shiver me timbers! What a great day of learning!

Have you filled a bucket today? Students in Mrs. Mellendorf's class have been discussing good choices vs. bad choices and ways to make others happy by filling their imaginary buckets. When they make a good choice as a whole team, they get to add a cotton ball to a real bucket. Once that bucket is full of "good choices and great behavior", they earn a classroom reward. They voted as a group and chose to have a Stuffed Animal day. Here they are with their special friends!
