In celebration of Pi Day, the sixth grade had their yearly contest on who could recite Pi to the farthest decimal place. This year's winner was Joshua Pruemer. He recited Pi to 314 decimal places where he purposely stopped to make the number that of Pi itself. The second place went to Westin Hille who recited 100 decimal places, in his words, with only one day of studying. Joshua Pruemer began memorizing Pi in 4th grade when his brother John was in 6th grade trying, and later succeeding, to beat his classmates. Joshua came and recited Pi to the 144th decimal place. In 5th grade Joshua stretched his winning number to 270 decimal places. Now as a sixth grader, his 314 decimal places wins him a 'Pie'napple, Oatmeal Creme Pies, and a gift card to Niemerg's Steak House to pick out his favorite 'Pie'. Westin takes home a 'Pie'napple and a box of Oatmeal Creme Pies. Great Job Gentlemen!
