First graders in Mrs. Kinkelaar’s class have been learning about descriptive writing. They got to use teddy bears to help them write descriptive sentences!
2nd-6th grade students participated in Picture the Music which is a program provided by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra! Each class listens to an orchestral selection and then creates their very own artwork that expresses what they heard when listening to the music. This year the selection of music was “Juba Dance” which is the third movement of Florence Price’s Symphony No. 1. Once the project is completed, 7 students' artwork is chosen, one from each grade and two from 5th and 6th grade, to send to the judges at the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. The seven winners from TGS this year are: Payton Ruholl, Jase Ruholl, Owen Lynch, Madelyn Repking, John Pruemer, Nick Waldhoff, and Olivia Roley. Great job to all who participated!
Mrs. Probst's first grade students read the story, “Long Ago and Now” in their reader. Pictured is a phone, keys, hole punch, cheese boxes, milk and a washboard from long ago and from today. The children loved seeing the old items and how they have changed.
Mrs Drees’ class had fun exploring magnet stations today.
First grade is “snow” much fun with Mrs. McClellan’s, Mrs. Probst’s, Mrs. Mellendorf’s, and Mrs. Kinkelaar’s classes!
First grade students in Mrs. Probst’s room observed that there were no differences in the inside of an egg. Eggs that were white, brown, or greenish in color still were the same on the inside. What really matters in life is how we treat others.

Private Damon Sabo visited his pen pals in Mrs. Jansen's 2nd grade class before leaving for Fort Carson, Colorado. The 2nd graders are very proud of Pvt. Sabo!
Who doesn't love Show and Tell? These first graders were able to bring one item to school that they received from Christmas. They worked on some public speaking and had to talk to their peers about what they brought, who they received the item from, and why they chose this item to share.
