2020-21 Poetry Out Loud Winners

The THS Poetry Out Loud Awards Ceremony was held on the 22nd.  Each English Class had a contest to recite a poem . In this recitation, the students had to memorize a poem in its entirety. While reciting the poem, the students were judged on their ability to do a good recitation through their voice and articulation, their physical presence, their dramatic appropriateness, their understanding of the poem, and the accuracy of their memorization. This took a lot of work for ALL the students involved.

The top student for each class went on to compete against the other class winners. The Judging was completed by English teachers, Danniel Herrera, Misty Mapes, Al Church and superintendent,  Matt Sturgeon. On February 22nd, the overall winners were announced. Runner up is Bailey Niccum, and the overall winner is Elizabeth Weidner. Elizabeth will advance to regionals soon. Last year, Elizabeth Weidner was the State Runner-Up for the Poetry Out Loud Competition.
