We would like to give a huge thank you to Niebrugge Lumber for generously donating supplies to THS for the dog house building projects that will be donated to the Effingham County Animal Shelter. Their support helps make this project possible and gives our students an opportunity to create something meaningful for animals in need.
This project originally began in 2020 as the Recycling Animal Housing Project. The idea is simple: use scrap lumber and leftover building materials donated by our community and turn them into something useful. Students design and build dog houses while learning hands-on skills, problem solving, teamwork, and giving back to the community.
🏠🐶 As we head into remodeling season, we are always looking for leftover building materials! If you are remodeling this summer and have extra lumber, siding, shingles, hardware, decking, or other usable supplies, please reach out. Your leftovers could become a safe shelter for an animal in need.
Thank you again to Niebrugge Lumber for supporting our students and this project this year! ❤️ #CommunitySupport #RecyclingAnimalHousingProject #StudentBuilt #GiveBack #EffinghamCountyAnimalShelter

Thank you to the TEF for purchasing a versatile overhead camera platform for THS art students! This equipment allows products and documents to be accurately and consistently photographed from above. Students have already used it to document their artwork for the creation of online portfolios.

Students in Mrs. Mette's English II classes recently completed their 'Genius Hour - Passion Project' unit. This unit is student-driven learning where students spend class time researching a topic of interest, exploring and stepping outside comfort zones, and creating a culminating project to present to the class. Topics of interest (as shown in the student examples) included welding, genealogy, carpentry, and the beach.
