The library bingo is awesome! Today this student is crossing off, “read on a pile of pillows”!

Thank you, TGS Parents!!! Check out our empty gym! 605 students at the grade school and 99% of the materials were picked up. We are so grateful for your support!

The drop-box for letters and cards for our Bravo Company Soldiers is in the entrance vestibule of the Teutopolis Post Office! All are invited to join in this opportunity to let our soldiers know we are thinking of them. You may direct your correspondence to a particular soldier, or leave it nameless for random distribution. NO Stamps please; envelopes are optional. All will be collected, boxed, and mailed. The first collection date will be Thursday, April 9.

TGS is getting ready for the materials pick-up today from 3:00-6:00. With the quantity of materials to distribute, the process may move a bit more slowly than previously. Your patience will be appreciated. Please pull onto the shoulder if the line of vehicles extends onto Route 40. Thank you!

TGS Parents
Regarding materials pick-up on Monday, March 30:
Pick-up will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. in the front circle drive.
As you pull into the drive, be prepared to share your last name and the first names of all your TGS students with the staff member there.
After giving your name, please pull as far forward as possible as you advance through the drive.
Staff members will come to your vehicle with your child's materials.
Students in grades 2-6 will be receiving their Chromebooks.
At pick-up, please return your child's current completed packet.
All children will be receiving new library books.
At pick-up, you may return any current library books you would like to discard.
Thank you all so much for your overwhelming support. As we begin these "Remote Instructional Days", do not hesitate to reach out with questions as the curriculum will have more rigor. We are all finding our way in these unusual times.

More students have accepted the challenge, a bag of cans and a bag of trash now out of our ditches!

Mrs. Nice and Mrs. Hotze are working hard to select books for each student in grades K-6!!! These books will be distributed at our pick-up on Monday. At that time, we will accept any books you would like to return.

THS Art students had just finished these portraits of Syrian and Russian children as a part of the Memory Project. Luckily, they took their group photo on the last Friday we were in session. Mrs. Petty mailed them right off. These portraits will eventually get delivered to these children who are in tough situations and often don’t have any photos of themselves to know what they looked like when they were kids. What a fantastic job and kind act!!

This TGS student made a game, complete with a spinner and multiple choice questions - all about baseball, of course!!! Pretty cool - it wasn't part of any assignment - just having fun!

Students rising to the challenge! Way to go!

Two fourth grade teachers spreading smiles today as they visit some of their students :)

One of our TGS students wants to challenge other students to come up with ideas to help the community from home! He picked up all this trash from the road by his house!

As you have probably assumed, the high school drama club unfortunately will not be able to perform Shrek the Musical this weekend. We will update as soon as we can with a postponed date. Thank you for understanding and for supporting the arts!

Dear Staff and Community at Teutopolis CUSD #50,
On Friday, March 20th, Governor Pritzker issued an executive order requiring residents to “stay at home” effective Saturday, March 21 at 5:00 pm, through the end of April 7. As part of the Governor’s order, he announced that school will remain closed, with a new tentative reopening date of April 8. We recognize that this development may raise questions about the impact on students, staff, and families as well as the school’s vital role of providing meals to students and families while schools are closed. We anticipate further guidance and details from the Illinois State Board of Education next week.
During this stay at home order, essential school personnel may still report to work as long as they are practicing social distancing. We want you to know the governor’s office has assured school districts that school personnel involved in providing meals will not be in violation of the governor’s executive order and that we can, and should, continue with our Grab and Go lunch program, which has had a tremendous impact in making sure our students are not going hungry while school is closed.
In addition, the governor has made it clear that, while he’s serious about using social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19, he wants residents to still be able to work, shop at grocery stores, put gas in their cars, take walks outside and get medication from the pharmacy. Rest assured, we are committed to doing our best to provide meals and deliver continuity of education.
Please use this opportunity to focus on staying safe and helping to slow the spread of the virus. As always, thank you for your patience and support as we all work through the COVID-19 Pandemic. As you have seen, this situation is evolving rapidly. As events unfold, we will continue to communicate in a timely and transparent manner. Further details regarding continuity of educational opportunities and instruction will be forthcoming.
Sincerely,
Deborah Philpot,
Interim Superintendent

During a dinosaur unit, students in Kindergarten had fun pretending to be paleontologists. They chiseled away at a dinosaur egg. Inside they found a dinosaur!!
