Congratulations to Wooden Shoe alumni Ethan Weidner for receiving the American FFA Degree at the week’s National Convention!
The American FFA Degree is bestowed upon a select group of students in recognition of their years of academic and professional excellence. It is the highest degree awarded by the National FFA Organization only given to 1% of FFA membership and recognizes demonstrated leadership abilities and outstanding achievements in agricultural business, production, processing and service programs.

Mrs. Thompson’s Physical Science students recently participated in an Egg Drop Challenge. Students had to use problem-solving strategies and a limited amount of household items to design and build a carrier to protect a raw egg from breaking when dropped. We dropped our eggs from approximately 20 feet. Our students had fun learning about the engineering design process and almost all of our groups saved their egg!

This is awarded to the top-performing 10% of schools throughout the State of Illinois. Congratulations to everyone who has helped and supported us to make this accomplishment possible!

The Agriculture classes at the high school were able to carve pumpkins for Halloween. Each class was tasked with carving a design relating back to their current unit. Pictured are Intro to ag, Floral Design, and Vet Science. Thank you to Chris Hartke for donating over 40 pumpkins to the Agriculture classes!

We are less than a week away from the TEF Spaghetti Supper! 🍝 Come hungry! 🍝

National Honor Society sponsored a Halloween assembly and costume contest yesterday. Students and staff looked great and donated six boxes of food items! We hope you had a Happy Halloween!

Floral Design students completed their PopTart Box Arrangements today! These Shoes are in full bloom!

Students in Introduction to Agriculture are learning about soil. They conducted an experiment to observe the porosity in a soil sample. Who knew counting bubbles was fun?

Some seniors got to visit TJHS today and spend time at lunch, recess and homeroom with the Jr. High students for Red Ribbon Week.

Athletic PE completed a testing week and our students continue to progress!! Congratulations to our student/athletes that made our boards and clubs!

Thanks to TEF mini grants, students are able to take part in a Makerspace at the Grade School where they can work on projects of their choice in the areas of engineering, robotics, coding, technology, arts and crafts. The materials and tools TEF has donated allow students to think creatively, problem solve, develop grit, and learn to grow from failure.

We send a huge thank you to Niemerg's! Their rounding up campaign has helped so many local schools. Pictured are Niemerg's owners, TGS principal Mrs. Hoehn, TEF representative Jake Donsbach, and TGS students.

Intro into Engineering and Technology class just finished a lesson on bridges. Each group studied a different type of truss and had to build a popsicle bridge to match their truss. They had 3 bridges hold 310 lbs without breaking! They finished the lesson with a speaker from Howell Paving. Kurt Haarman spoke with the students about options that are available after high school and some current and past projects they have worked on.

TEF funded new robots for students to learn computer programming during STEAM class.
