Mrs. Eckelberry's 4th grade reading class is preparing for a great year using growth mindset skills. They practiced stretching their brains, using grit to keep trying, and even found the keys to escape a fixed mindset! We are off to a great start to 4th grade!

Mrs. Chesnut's Social Studies class is learning about the types of government. They had a readers theater presentation entitled -Which is the Best Form of Government. During the presentation, Thomas Jefferson, Louis XIV, and Joseph Stalin discussed what type of government they thought was best.
Mrs. Chesnut's Social Studies class is learning about the types of government. After reading about 5 different types of government, they tried representing the different types of government using cereal.
The Lady Shoes win the second game 25-17 and win the match to improve to 3-0. Next up, at St. Joe-Ogden this Thursday.

Miss Mette’s 4th graders discussed and experienced failure, frustration, and persistence during their first STEM challenge.
Mrs. Chesnut's Social Studies class examined a replica of an artifact to determine which ancient culture the artifact originated from. Thanks to the Effingham U of I Extension Center and the World History Museum in Champaign, IL for making this activity possible.
Mrs. Chesnut's Social Studies class pretended to be an archaeologist and dug for a broken artifact. Once they found the artifact, they had to infer what the artifact was telling them about the culture of the area.
The Sixth Grade theme this year is "Be a LIGHT in the WORLD". Mrs. Chesnut's class is working on writing new lyrics to Chris LeDoux's song "Light of the World". They will present their new school-related lyrics to the class next week.
