NHS students decorated the hallways of THS to get in the Halloween spirit before the costume contest and assembly on Friday.

Athletic PE was started in the 2019-2020 school year. Students in the class have the opportunity to lift weights 3 days/week and do speed training 2 days/week. The pictures are the All-Time Records in the Bench Press, Parallel Back Squat, Power Clean and Total weight lifted. Our students have been working very hard on improving their fitness levels.

Our students have been working very hard on improving their fitness levels.
The THS art club, along with several art students, have painted around 60 pumpkins graciously donated by Hartke Pumpkin Farm in Teutopolis, to encourage others to donate to Elizabeth's Weidner's scholarship fund. The goal is for the fund to reach $18,000 by Elizabeth's 18th birthday. Make a donation and get a pumpkin! Pumpkins will be available in front of the THS Media Center Thurs. 10/21 from 4-8pm and Friday 10/22 from 8-11am. Pumpkins will also be available to THS students in the coming weeks.
Mrs. Thompson's Physical Science Classes recently completed the Mousetrap Car Project. Students researched, built, and designed mousetrap cars. Their goal was to build a car that could travel 15 feet or more. Many of our cars traveled 25 feet or more. Dawson Hoene was the overall winner. His car traveled 67 feet!

Senior students and parents: Just a reminder that tomorrow night is Financial Aid Night at 6:00pm in the high school media center. Our financial aid presenter will be sharing a lot of valuable information regarding the financial aid process. She will also discuss the graduation requirements for the FAFSA completion. Also, if you have not turned in the forms that were sent to you via email and also in the senior google classroom, you can turn those in at this meeting.
Wiring students are learning how to wire receptacles, switches, and lamp fixtures.

THS Volunteens and In Touch held a bake sale this morning before school to raise money to purchase gas cards for families with medical travels and expenses, and for Catholic Heart Work Camp. It was a success!




The National Guard spoke to all Physical Education classes today about what they do for our country and how students could benefit from joining. Students also had the opportunity to climb the 42’ rock wall today!!




Congratulations to Katie Kingery and Macy Probst for being chosen as recipients of the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce Up and Coming Leaders. These two ladies were chosen for this award because of their leadership skills, academics, and all-around positive attitudes. Way to go Katie and Macy. We are Wooden Shoe Proud!!

Students from last year's Industrial Ed classes donated 5 dog houses to the Effingham County Humane Society.
Mrs. Mapes's and Ms. Philpot's THS Fundamentals of English class took a short field trip to the media center, where they watched book trailers to encourage independent reading. Mr. Koester gave the first quarter driver’s education class an automobile basic maintenance presentation. They learned to change a tire and check for various fluids under the hood of a vehicle.

Art students recently completed their first drawing project. Grid lines were used to help get correct proportions and values were added to create contrast. Great job to these budding artists!
