Thank you to Distress Bandanna and Ameren Illinois for presenting our Driver Ed students with lots of good safety tips, especially what to do if they ever encounter a downed power line.
1. Assume all downed lines are energized.
2. Do not drive over downed power lines.
3. Stay in your car.
4. If in danger, jump away from the car and land with both feet together. Shuffle step with your feet close together until you are at least 35 feet from the downed power line.
